I’ve had years in the past where I have boldly declared that it was going to be My Year.  When I said it I meant it, because I wanted to reach my goals and end the year feeling like I was on top of the world.  Unfortunately, I let life get in the way far too many times and I would always end the year feeling like I came up short.  Maybe it was a stressful job, maybe I wasn’t performing at my best because I wasn’t taking care of myself, or maybe it was the health of a loved one that pulled me away from accomplishing my goals.  It does’t really matter what it was, though.  What matters is that I let “it” take the lead and redirect my life. That’s not happening to me this year.

What I have realized is that life happens, and no matter what my BIG plans are, life will just keep happening.  That’s the way it goes. So, I have entered this year asking myself, “can you really reach all of your goals this year, no matter what life throws your way?”  My answer is, “I absolutely can.  This is my year to get RADICAL.”  So what does it mean to get radical?  For me it means that I am on a mission to reach my goals and I am prepared to make sure nothing gets in my way. If a situation makes me uncomfortable, I will embrace it.  If an opportunity scare me, I will go for it.  If something feels like it’s beyond my reach, I will reach so hard that my arms might literally stretch.  That is what I am planning for 2014.

Are you letting anything hold you back?  Fears? Doubts? Haters? Confusion? A lack of resources? A lack of drive?  Are you going to watch this year pass you by, ending it with another list of excuses for why you didn’t take that step towards making your dreams come true?

Don’t get me wrong, I understand where some of you are in your journey because I lived in that place for a long time — knowing what I want to do with my life but having 101 excuses for why it wasn’t the right time to actually do it.  But, I just decided to exercise my right to choose and this year, I choose something else.  I choose to do things a little more radically.  I choose to take a few risks.  I choose to step out on faith.  I choose so do exactly what my heart tells me to do even if it doesn’t make sense to the world in that moment (or to me for that matter).

Join me on this crazy journey I’m on and share your stories with me.  Tell me what you’ve been scared of doing but plan to finally do this year?  Tell me what you plan to step into, despite the fact that it makes you incredibly uncomfortable.  Share a story about what’s been getting in your way and how you plan to get it out of your way as soon as possible.

I can’t wait to read your comments and I also can wait to share more about my journey with you.  I plan on attending Doreen Rainey’s Get RADICAL Conference this March and that is going to be a huge stop during my 2014 journey. With women like Jillian Michaels, Laila Ali, Lori Greiner ( I LOVE Shark Tank) and Jean Chatzky as keynote speakers, I am sure it’s going to be a life changing experience and a great way to end the first quarter of 2014.

Keep me posted on your journey for the year and I promise to do the same.  Maybe I’ll see you at this conference!
