My second child and first daughter turned five just a few weeks ago. I really can’t believe it. Those early years drifted by so quickly and frankly, some of it is a blur. There was a lot going on the first two years of her life, and my attempt to manage it all has left me wishing I could experience some of those days again.
Yet, despite it all, she has always served as a burst of light in our lives. Even on my most challenging days, she makes me smile. Smart, determined, passionate. and as funny as they come, she is just what I need in a daughter. That’s why I was so happy to help her have a very special 5th birthday at a place she loves!
This summer, I had the chance to visit Port Discovery Children’s Museum with the kids. They had a blast. It was our first time visiting since my son was two, so the visit was well overdue. Jada was excited from the moment she walked in the door and she could not stop talking about the experience weeks after we visited.
I just knew we had to host her 5th birthday party at Port Discovery.
My husband and I are not big party people. Birthdays are always celebrated, but a big party isn’t always necessary as far as we are concerned. This 5th birthday party would be our little girl’s first big party, so making it one she would remember was so important.
The staff at Port Discovery was awesome leading up to the big day. They were responsive and easy to work with, and that meant so much because I honestly didn’t have the time to plan anything that would stress me out. I needed simple and they gave me just that.
How Birthday Parties Work at Port Discovery
Booking a party at Port Discovery couldn’t be any easier. When you visit their website, you are able to access information about all their different party packages. Whether you want something small and affordable, or you want the whole museum to yourself, you will find the perfect package for your little one. Once you make a decision about what you want, you can contact the Port Discovery party coordinator by phone or by email. And as my son would say, the rest is “easy peasy lemon squeezy.”
My daughter had the Premium Birthday Bash and it was the perfect package for us! The Premium Birthday Package includes:
- 2 hours in a private, decorated party area
- pizza and beverages for children
- All day admission for up to 10 children and one adult per child (this is so awesome)
- Special activities hosted by your Party Pal
- Available themes include Diggin for Dinos and Dig & Draw Nature Party (Includes decorations)
- Current Port Discovery members receive 10% off the base cost of this party package
Amazing, right? She was able to pick one of the fun Port Discovery party themes, so she decided on the Dig and Draw Nature Party theme. She was able to learn about the science behind growing plants and she also had a chance to decorate pots and plant seeds with all her friends. Each child had their own plant to take home. My daughter and son are so proud because the seeds they planted less than two weeks ago are already growing.
What Makes The Experience So Awesome
What did the kids love most about the party? The plant activity and the ability to have a ball throughout the museum after enjoying pizza and cake. What did I love most? The fact that I didn’t have to worry about decorations, activities, and food & drinks for the kids. And if you want pizza for the adults, they will place the order for you and you just pay for it. All we brought with us were goody bags, the cake, and bottled water for the adults. Considering that her party was just 6 days before my #LearnShiftGrow Wellness Symposium, I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing it was to not worry about all these details.
When it comes to kids parties, it’s nice to be able to do something different and memorable for your kids. And honestly, so many parents came up to me after the event and thanked me for having the party there because although we live right outside of Baltimore, they either never visited Port Discovery or they hadn’t visited in years. And did I mention I was able to share passes with the parents so they can bring their kids back at no cost between now and the end of the year? Port Discovery is pretty awesome for providing those passes.
Party planning doesn’t have to be hard. I know hard is the last thing I need, and I am sure most moms agree. I am just glad my little girl was able to celebrate her 5th birthday with friends and family while having fun and learning new things.
This was definitely a win for everyone…. especially our little princess!
