Feeding My Soul and Refilling My Tank

“What’s unplugging?” It is an interesting question that I was asked last week. I’d spent three nights of my week being social and I’d posted a picture on Instagram sharing that I would be unplugging that weekend. Ok honestly, I posted a picture on Instagram to show off an outfit that I felt really good in and the caption included that I had an overstimulating week and would be unplugging over the weekend. Who’s splitting hairs here? Anyway, I wasn’t sure how to answer the question. At first, I started by going through my list of actual plans, but...

Living the Next Year Intentionally

I love this time of year! No, not fall. Fall is nice, but I mean LIBRA SEASON. I am a Libra, which means this is my birthday season. Plus, I know a million and a half other Libras that are all amazing people! There is no denying that great humans are birthed in late September to late October. Four Years Ago

Dear Little Bear, Four years ago, you changed our lives forever. In September of 2013, we became first-time parents and I soon learned that I had no idea what we were in for. Although my responsibilities as a mother will never end and I will continue to utilize my body as a vehicle to help me in these duties, the contractual obligation of my body to provide for these people has ended. Yep,...

Leadership is Empathy

I recently finished the book “Leaders Eat Last” by Simon Sinek and it put into words everything that I was feeling about my experiences in the workplace. A lot of the book revolved around how people should be treated and how they respond when they are treated the right way. I learned that as humans we naturally gravitate towards collaboration and cooperation, but missteps of the last couple generations have led us astray. My biggest takeaway, the one that really resonates with my own personal beliefs, is that leadership is empathy. As current or soon to be leaders, it...
