Candid. Compassionate. Creative.

Welcome to my (digital) home. I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m Martine Foreman—Lifestyle Consultant + Health Coach, Speaker, and Writer. I’m passionate about helping moms get from where they are to where they want to be. I firmly believe a holistic approach to living well is the only way to create a life you love. When one area of your life is out of balance, everything else follows. I don’t want to live that way, and I’m sure you don’t either.

My Story

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and I have the attitude and heart to match. I grew up in a passionate, food-loving Haitian home. Bring me a plate of rice and beans, chicken, and some fried sweet plantains and we may become great friends.

I now live outside of Baltimore, Maryland with a few funny, big-hearted, crazy people — my husband and two (soon to be three) kids. My sassy cat, Pepper, is part of the crew, too. They all give me life.

I started college with plans of going into the world of marketing. Instead, I ended up studying child and family studies and speech communication. After that, I got a masters degree in Family Studies. Helping people has always been at the core of who I am. It feeds my soul.

Somehow I ended up working in higher education and I’ve loved working in that world for over a decade. Helping young people reach their potential is part of why God placed me here. It’s one of the ways I add value to the world.

Although I’ve taken many twists and turns, a few things have remained consistent:

My strong desire to help people create better lives

The value I place on health and wellness

My love for writing

My ability to be candid without ever being cruel

My commitment to helping women of all ages feel empowered

My ability to always figure things out

These things are a part of who I am. They always will be. That’s why creating CandidBelle as a blog, and later developing a personal brand (martineforeman.com) to help women, has made perfect sense.

That moment when you realize that what you love to do is what God wants you to do… well, there’s really nothing like it. It’s a sweet place to be.

Why I do this

It doesn’t feel like I have many other options, and I mean that in the best possible way. This feels right. Doing the work I do makes me feel like things in my life are in alignment. You really can’t beat that.

Plus, if I could be candid, I hate BS. I think people—especially women—often end up feeling defeated and discourage because they start to believe some a bunch of crap about who they are when that mess just isn’t true.

I’m not good enough.

I mess things up too much.

My kids deserve a better mom

Maybe this is the best life I can have.

I’m unhappy but I have to just make this thing work.

I have to do everything by myself. No one is willing to help.

Maybe I should just accept the hand I’ve been dealt.

I don’t think I’m capable enough to really make my dreams come to life.

I just can’t figure this out

I have so many people to care for. What I want doesn’t matter right now.

Maybe all of this negativity is coming from loved ones, or maybe it’s what women are getting from messages out there in the world. Either way, I want to help women get rid of all that noise so they can get clear about how they can create a life they want. Knowing what you want is very different than knowing how to get there.

Most importantly, I do this because I think building a community designed to help women become better versions of themselves is pretty awesome stuff. Sometimes we grow comfortable with not getting everything we need until we stumble upon that missing link. In that moment life starts to change.

Things shift.

I hope CandidBelle can be your missing link.

So whether it’s a piece of content, an awesome experience, or something else you find through this community, I hope being here leaves you feeling more inspired and encouraged than you were when you arrived.

I don’t think anyone should walk through life feeling unsettled and discouraged. That’s tragic. I don’t anyone living a tragic life.

I want women to realize that no matter where you are, no matter what you’ve faced, there is light on the other side. There is always light on the other side. With a plan in hand, you can reach it.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you stick around.

Here’s to the light on the other side!

Much love,

Martine
