My friends at Boiron provided the products I review in this post and the giveaway products. All opinions shared are my own.
Summer is almost here and my family calendar is SERIOUS. You would think I’d take it easy since I just had a baby, but I just can’t. I think some of my planning is this strong desire to make sure my two older kids have a great summer because they have been getting the short end of the stick for almost twelve months at this point.
A sickly first trimester, an exhausting pregnancy, and taking care of a newborn has definitely limited how much I’ve done with them in recent months. They are good kids, so I’m not getting a ton of complaints, but I still think they deserve to have a blast this summer.
So what do I have planned? Look, it’s nothing fancy. Raising three kids is expensive so we certainly aren’t about to fly off to Europe just yet. But I do have a few amusement park trips planned as well as a trip to North Carolina, a trip to New Jersey, and lots of local activities. And these lucky kids even get to partake in a bit of camp so they don’t drive me completely nuts.
As I plan for all of this summer fun, I also want to make sure I am ready for what comes with the good times–plenty of boo-boos. Whether it’s an insect bite, a burn, a scrap, or a cut, I know that my kids are bound to get hurt this summer. If you ask me, the occasional boo-boo lets me know they are having a great time!
But of course, I want those boo-boos to heal as quickly as possible. And not only do I want them to heal, but I want to use a product I trust because my babies mean the world to me. That’s why I turn to the Calendula line of homeopathic medicines offered by Boiron. The world leader in homeopathic medicines, Boiron makes me feel like my kids are using something that is safe and effective. That gives me peace of mind.
So as you prepare to have fun with your kiddos this summer, here are 3 tips to help you prepare for summer boo-boos.
Keep a First Aid Kit With You
I suggest keeping a first aid kit in your car and also creating a smaller kit that your keep in your purse. You never know when your child might get hurt and you want to have everything you need to make him or her feel better. I recommend including the Calendula Cream in your first aid kits (there is also an ointment if you hate creams). It’s great for cuts, scrapes, chafing, minor burns, and sunburn. So basically this stuff should be your best friend this summer. Keep some around at all times. That’s what I plan to do.
Talk to Your Kids About What to Do When They Get a Boo-Boo
Although your kids will often be with you, there may be times when they are with family, friends, or camp counselors. You want to make sure they know what to do in those instances. Tell your children to always tell an adult about any cuts, scrapes, or insect bites right away. If your kid is anything like my 7-year-old son, they may think they are old enough to just handle it, when in fact they need some first aid. Explain to your child that something small can cause pain or even an infection if they don’t seek help. And if your kids are super sensitive to insect bites like mine are, keeping Calendula Gel around is a must.
Keep a Change of Clothes & Treats in Your Car
When I am hurt, I just want something to make me forget about what happened. If your kid rips his clothing or gets a blood stain on his shirt, it would be great if you had something new for him to wear. I mean, who wants to spend all day at the amusement park staring at the blood stain from a morning fall? Keep a change of clothes in the trunk at all times. This will also come in handy for food spills, bathroom accidents, and all the other crazy things that happen with kids. Also, keep treats around. Whether it’s stickers or a lollipop, have a stash of what your kid likes so the big mosquito bite or the scrape from the bike fall doesn’t quite feel like the end of the world.
I hope these tips help you have an incredible summer with your munchkins and I hope you all stay safe.
